General  

Q1.      Is any of the programmes of Jamia Hamdard available in distance learning mode? 

A.        Yes, we have many courses available through distance mode. 

Q2.      Is there any affiliated college/institution of Jamia Hamdard? 

A.        No, we do not have any affiliated institution in Delhi or outside and also there is no branch of Jamia Hamdard.   

Q3.      What is the performance of Hamdard students in NET and GATE? 

A.        On an average 8-10 M.Sc. students qualify in NET. Performance of our Pharmacy students in GATE has been spectacular. Last year 41 students qualified in GATE including all India topper. 

Q4.      What about campus placement? 

A.        We have a Placement Cell which helps in placement of students. On-campus placement activities are also organized at regular intervals. In every faculty Deans keep in regular touch with industries and employers and advise students on placement. 

Q5.      I want to know whether degrees of Jamia Hamdard are recognized by the UGC  and other
            professional bodies? 

A.        Yes, Jamia Hamdard is a deemed university under Section 3 of University Grants Commission Act. All the degrees of Jamia Hamdard are recognized by the UGC and other professional bodies such as AICTE, Pharmacy Council of India, Indian Nursing Council, CCIM etc. 

Q6.      I want to know the rating of Jamia Hamdard given by NAAC. 

A.        Jamia Hamdard has now been accredited with 'A' grade by NAAC for a period of five years, starting from March 2003.

Q7.      I am often confused with Jamia Hamdard and Jamia Millia Islamia. Please clarify. 

A.        Jamia Hamdard and Jamia Millia Islamia are two different universities. Jamia Millia Islamia is a central university.  

Undergraduate courses 

Q1.      I have appeared/have passed in 10+2 (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) examination this year. What are career options for me in your university? 

A.        You have a number of courses for you. These are listed below.

Q.2.     I have appeared/have passed in 10+2 examination with Mathematics as a subject this year. What are career options for me in your university? 

A.        You can go for BCA/B.Sc. (IT) programme of our university. 

Q3.      I have completed 10+2 with Mathematics as one of the subjects. Please advise me, if I am eligible to apply for your BCA programme.

A.        Yes, those who have studied Mathematics can apply for BCA. 

Q4.      Hamdard is known for Unani medicine. Whether there are any Unani courses offered by Jamia Hamdard? 

A.        We run BUMS course for Unani medicine. For admission to this course good knowledge of Urdu is essential, as instruction is given in Urdu. 

Q5.      Do you run B.I.T. programme anymore. 

A.        No, we have now three year BCA/B.Sc. (IT) programme. A student who has studied science at +2 level may either opt for BCA or B.Sc. (IT) degree. 

Q.6.     In some institutes D.Pharm. candidates are given admission to the second year of B.Pharm. Whether Jamia Hamdard has similar provision? 

A.        Yes, D.Pharm. students can get admission to second year of B.Pharm. 

Q7.      I want to do a diploma level course that can provide me employment in hospital or pathology laboratory. Is there any opportunity for me in Jamia Hamdard? 

A.        Jamia Hamdard has three diploma courses for you: D.M.L.T., Dip in X-ray & ECG Technology and Dip in Operation Theatre Techniques. These courses could be very useful for you for employment purpose. 

Q8.      I want to pursue nursing course, but have not studied science in +2. What is your advice? 

A.        Our diploma course in nursing (Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery) is open to +2 students who have not studied science. Selected candidates are also offered a scholarship of Rs. 500 per month. 

Q9.      Is there any undergraduate level programme in management in your university? 

A.        No, only masters level (MBA) programme is run by Jamia Hamdard at present.

 

Post-graduate courses   

Q1.      I have passed B.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics). What are the career options for me in your University? 

A.        We have MCA, MBA and PGDCA programmes suited to your qualification. Besides, we have a M.Sc. (Chemistry-Industrial Applications) programme for the graduates with Chemistry as one of the subjects. Admission for MBA and MCA have been completed for the academic year beginning in July 2002. Admission notice for these courses is issued in the month of November/December. 

Q2.      I am going to appear B.Sc. (Botany, Chemistry, Zoology) examination this year and I am interested to pursue higher studies in your university. What is your advice for me? 

A.        We have masters programme (M.Sc.) in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Environmental Botany and Toxicology.  
Eligibility for Admission To M.Sc. in Biochemistry 

A candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. in Biochemistry must have passed B.Sc. or equivalent examination with Biochemistry or Chemistry as one of the subjects securing at least 55% marks in aggregate. 

Eligibility for Admission To M.Sc. in Biotechnology 

A candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. in Biotechnology must have passed B.Sc. or equivalent examination of a recognized university in Biological Sciences securing a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. The candidates having passed B.Sc. (Agriculture) or B.V.Sc. are also eligible. 

Eligibility for Admission To M.Sc. in M.Sc. Chemistry-Industrial Applications 

A candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. in Chemistry must have passed B.Sc. or equivalent examination of a recognized university with Chemistry as one of the subjects securing at least 55% marks in the aggregate..

Eligibility for Admission to M.Sc. in Environmental Botany 

A candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. in Environmental Botany must have passed B.Sc. or equivalent examination of a recognized university with Botany/Plant Sciences as one of the subjects securing at least 55% marks in the aggregate.  

Eligibility for Admission to M.Sc. in Toxicology 

A candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. in Toxicology must have passed B.Sc. or equivalent examination of a recognized university with any three of Botany, Chemistry, Zoology, Biochemistry or any other subject of Life Sciences with at least 55% marks in the aggregate. Candidates who are B.Sc. in Chemistry/Biochemistry/ Biology and have also obtained B.U.M.S./B. Pharm. or other professional degree from Jamia Hamdard will also be eligible to compete for admission to the course. The criterion of 55% marks at B.Sc. level will be relaxed in their cases and they will be given a weightage of 5% while computing the merit for admission. 

Q3.      For admission to M.Sc. (Biotechnology) shall I have to appear for joint entrance test conducted by different universities. 

A.        No, we have our own entrance test for admission to this programme.  

Q4.      My result will not be out by the time admission in Jamia Hamdard will start. Am I eligible to apply and get the admission? 

A.        Yes, you can apply. If selected, you will have to produce your mark sheet with the required percentage by July 30, 2002. 

Q5.      I have come to know that Jamia Hamdard offers some courses in Rehabilitation Sciences at masters level. What are the courses available? 

A.        Two of our programmes viz., M.P.Th. (in Neurology, Osteo-myology, Cardio-pulmonary and Sports Health) and M.O.Th. (in Orthopedics and Pediatrics) are running very successfully. 

Q7.      I am interested to pursue higher studies in toxicology. Please inform about the job opportunities after this course? 

A.        Besides Jamia Hamdard, Agra University and Madras University also offer M.Sc. in Toxicology. After completing this programme, you can get job in pharmaceutical industries (in their toxicology units), other industries (in their environmental monitoring units) and position of scientist in research institutes etc. There is great demand of toxicologists in the US also. 

Q8.      I am interested to pursue higher studies in Islamic studies. What programmes of studies are available for me in Jamia Hamdard? 

A.        You can join our M.A. (Islamic studies) programme, if you have studied Islamic studies at undergraduate level as one of the subjects. This programme is also open to the candidates who have passed Fazilat from a recognized Madarsas.  

Q9.      Is PGDCA a part time course? 

A.        Yes, it is part-time evening course. It is suited to those who are in job.

 

Doctoral programme   

Q.        I want to know in which subjects Jamia Hamdard does offer Ph.D. degree.? 

A.        Ph.D. degree programmes are available in science, pharmacy, management, computer science, Islamic studies and federal studies. You are also advised to go through FAQ in Research

Foreign students   

Q1.      I am a foreign student and wish to join your university for MBA programme. What is the admission procedure? 

A.        There is special provision for admitting foreign students in Jamia Hamdard. No entrance test is required for foreign students. Click here for more details.

NRI/sponsored students   

Q1.      I am an NRI student from Dubai with 10+2 qualification. I wish to pursue B.P.Th. programme of your esteemed university. Please advise. 

A.        In every programme of study, we have some NRI seats. No entrance test is prescribed for NRI candidates except for M.Pharm. Click here for more details. 

Research  

Q1.      I have passed M.Sc. (Biochemistry). I am interested to join research in your university. How should I proceed for that? 

A.        You can join research in the Department of Biochemistry. You can also go for Biotechnology or Toxicology programme.  

Q.2.            Whether any scholarship/fellowship is provided during research? 

A.        Jamia Hamdard prefers NET qualified candidates for research. There are several research projects in various faculties. Positions available in those projects are advertised in newspapers and on our web site. You can approach the Chairman, Admission Committee for more details.

Q2.      What are scholarship programmes of Jamia Hamdard? 

A.        A number of scholarships are available for meritorious students. Click here for more details  

Hostel   

Q1.      I am a girl student from Rajasthan. I wish to join your M.Sc. (Toxicology) programme. Whether hostel facility will be available for me? 

A.        Yes, we have sufficient hostel accommodation for girls. Girl students desirous of hostel accommodation are given hostel. Free hostel is provided to Diploma Nursing students. 

Q2.      What about boys' hostel? 

A.        Hostel accommodation for boys is limited. A new hostel for foreign/NRI students is under construction which will augment hostel facility.

Fee   

Q.1.     Is there provision of donation based admission in your university? 

A.        No. The university does not charge any donation. Fee structure for various courses is given at Prospectus 2002 (Adobe Acrobat Reader Required).

Q.2.     I am a foreign student from Nepal. Is there any special fee rebate for me? 

A.        Yes, foreign students from SAARC countries are given a relief of US$ 500 in the annual fee for foreign students. Click here for more details.
